Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using the SayIt API, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The service

SayIt API provides a text-to-speech API that converts text into audio files. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the service at any time with reasonable notice.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your API key confidential. Do not expose your key in client-side code, public repositories, or anywhere else it could be accessed by third parties. You are responsible for all usage that occurs under your key.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

4. Acceptable use

You may not use SayIt API to:

  • Generate audio that is defamatory, harassing, or incites violence
  • Produce synthetic media intended to deceive or impersonate real individuals without their consent
  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, overload, or circumvent the service
  • Resell or sublicense access to the API without our written permission

We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms without refund.

5. Quotas and usage

Each plan includes a monthly character quota. When you reach your quota, API requests will be paused until the quota resets on the 1st of the following month. There are no overage charges - access simply stops. You can monitor your usage in the dashboard.

6. Pricing and billing

The Free tier is free indefinitely. Paid plans are billed monthly or annually as shown on the pricing page. We will not retroactively change pricing on an active subscription without 60 days notice.

Refunds on annual plans are available within 14 days of purchase if you have not exceeded 100,000 characters.

7. Audio files and content

Audio files generated by the API are stored for 24 hours and then permanently deleted. You are responsible for downloading and storing any audio you wish to keep. You retain ownership of the content you submit; by submitting it you grant us a limited licence to process it for the purpose of generating audio.

8. Uptime and availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The service is provided "as is". We are not liable for losses resulting from downtime, errors, or data loss.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

10. Termination

You may close your account at any time by emailing hello@sayitapi.com. We may terminate accounts that violate these terms. On termination, your API key is revoked and your data is deleted within 30 days.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will notify you by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
